Handloom Sambalpuri Pure cotton sarees, also known as ‘Bandha’ sarees in Odisha, are woven in Bargarh, Sonepur, and Barpalli, all of which were once part of unified Sambalpur. The ‘ikat’ or ‘bandha’ style is one of the most well-known winds in Odisha. The twist or weft string is coloured in the’single’ ikat, while both the twist and weft string are coloured prior to winding around in the ‘twofold’ ikat.
