The origin of the saree may be traced back to civilisation and the need for people to cover their bodies. Different handlooms were weaved over time. Sambalpuri Ikat sarees were invented by the Bhulia community. According to records, the reign of the Mughals began in 1192 A.D., following the fall of the Chauhan empires. In the aftermath of the atrocities, the Bhulia people fled to Odisha from the northern region of India. They settled in the western region of Odisha and began weaving sarees for a living. Then came the well-known and articulated art of Sambalpuri Ikat Sarees. It takes a lot of time, ingenuity, and effort to create art.
