The weavers created a variety of designs that give the saree a distinct appearance. Khandua (also known as Maniabandi or Kataki) is an Odisha-made traditional “bandha” or ikat sari worn by women during weddings, a special type of which is worn by Jagannath. Gita Govinda’s texts are printed on the clothes. Kenduli Khandua, a special form of Khandua of 12 ft and 2 kani (each kani measures the length of a hand), is offered to Jagannath to wear as khandua with Gita Govinda stanzas and illustrations.
