The Sambalpur Vichitrapuri sari has an additional twist design on the body and an additional weft design on the pallu, while the shakarapara plans of squares of various varieties: white, red and dark are in twofold ikat. The variety plot for the weave is foreordained with remarkable accuracy, so that when the colored strings are woven together, the plan shows up in the completed material, as though by enchantment.
