The pious Muslim saints known as Pirs dwelt in this region and gave their name to the settlement of Pipili. However, Hindu temples, particularly the Puri Jagannath temple, employed their craft. Almost everywhere, whether it was the Car event, Snana Jatra (an annual bathing event), Chaitra Festival, or Darji Seva, these Chandua artists worked their artistic magic.
