Pipli, also known as Aparigraha or Apalapatra, is a crucial component of the way of life of the craftsmen of Odisha. Pipli is renowned for employing the ancient method of applique to create artistically and attractive motifs on textiles. These artists’ abilities are so advanced that they can manually bind fabric in any way they see fit. Even while everyone is aware that machine sewing machines can do this “Applique” process far more quickly, it typically takes up to three days from beginning to end. The artists of Pipli are skilled in creating exquisite, vibrant appliqued wall hangings with a variety of motifs, including flowers, animals, Ganesha, and idols of Jagannath of Puri, Balabhadra, and Subhadra.
