Pipili is a little hamlet in Odisha, located around 40 km from Puri. This town mostly relies on the sale of its handicrafts, of which appliqué works are the major source, for its income.These days, it is increasingly frequently used in home, ornamental, and holiday items. Particularly the vibrant appliqué fabric coverings of the three rathas of the deities during Rath Jatra, the appliqué goods are mostly employed during rituals and jatras of the deities. All three have a fundamental design, with the exception of colour variations. Additionally, pillows, chairs, and the ritual clothing worn by the gods all use appliqué work.
