A Sambalpuri Woven saree is a conventional handwoven ikat or sari (privately called sadhi) wherein the twist and the weft are creatively colored prior to winding around. It is created in the Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Balangir region, Boudh Locale of Odisha. The saree is a conventional female piece of clothing in the Indian Subcontinent comprising of a segment of unstitched material going from four to nine meters long that is hung over the body in different styles.Sambalpuri sarees are known for their fuse of conventional themes like shankha (shell), chakra (wheel), phula (blossom), all of which have profound imagery with the local Odia variety red high contrast address genuine Odia Culture alongwith Ruler Kaalia(Jagannatha’s) face tone.
